Garrett Ranch - Hemet

With a fast-growing population and surging retail market, it's no real surprise that another mall has been proposed within Inland Southern California. The latest proposal calls for a 1 million square foot "lifestyle center" to be built at the intersection of Florida Avenue (Highway 74) and Warren Road in Hemet, aka Garrett Ranch.

Included within the 200-acre, mixed-use plan are residences, offices, restaurants and a power center with shops the likes of Best Buy, Circuit City and Costco, all of which would be new to the booming Hemet-San Jacinto retail market (a market currently anchored by the existing Hemet Valley Mall -- often referred locally as "Hemet Small" due to its tiny size).

If built, the regional mall would become the 4th outdoor lifestyle center built locally in the last few years, joining the ranks with Victoria Gardens (Rancho Cucamonga), Riverside Plaza (Riverside) and The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos (Corona, under construction).

Developers Garrett Group LLC of Temecula say groundbreaking for Garrett Ranch could come as early as Fall 2007.
